angel reese
NCAA champion and the newest member of the WNBA’s Chicago Sky, Angel Reese is one of basketball’s brightest superstars already making a significant impact both on and off the court. Hailing from Randallstown, Maryland, Reese is the eldest child of Angel Webb Reese, who played both collegiate and professional basketball and comes from a family of elite athletes. Her brother Julian plays college basketball for the University of Maryland, while her stepbrother Mikael Hopkins is a basketball player for Italian professional team, Reggio Emilia.
Raised by her single mother, Reese drew inspiration from her mother’s independence and determination and often credits her success to her mother’s influence and support. “She’s always been independent, and she molded that into me,” said Reese. “I am who I am because of her.” This strong foundation fueled Angel’s passion for basketball, leading her to become the highest-ranked recruit in the history of the University of Maryland’s women’s basketball program.
Despite facing a setback with a fractured foot during her freshman season in 2020–21, Reese’s sophomore season proved remarkable as she was named a third-team All-American by the Associated Press. However, it was during the 2023 NCAA women’s basketball tournament that Reese truly showcased her talent and leadership. She led the LSU Lady Tigers to a historic National Championship victory against the University of Iowa’s Hawkeyes and was awarded Most Outstanding Player in the NCAA tournament. She went on to be named to Team USA’s 2023 Women’s AmeriCup Roster and represented the United States last summer in Mexico before finishing her last collegiate season with LSU as the 2024 SEC Player of the Year.
Reese’s exceptional skills and charisma catapulted her into becoming one of the highest-paid college athletes, securing the most NIL deals and endorsements amongst both men’s and women’s basketball. Recognized for her beauty, confidence, and ability to connect authentically with fans Reese makes an ideal choice for brand partnerships, having collaborated with renowned brands like Beats, Tampax, Good American, Google Pixel and more. Further demonstrating her commitment to empowering athletes, Reese recently became an ambassador for Reebok, becoming the brand’s first major NIL signing. She also recently partnered with Mielle, the fastest-growing multicultural hair care brand. Together, they are bridging the gap between sports, fashion and beauty, and Reese has been outspoken about the opportunities for fashion and beauty brands to work with female athletes in general.
Beyond her achievements in business and on the court, Reese is a fierce advocate for gender equality in sports, challenging the double standards women face. Her unapologetic authenticity, intensity, and unwavering drive have made her a role model for the next generation. As Reese continues to shine bright on the court and in the public eye, she remains steadfast in her mission to inspire and empower women. In 2023 she founded the Angel C. Reese Foundation dedicated to empowering girls and women through sports, education, financial literacy, and more. Through her exceptional skills, fierce advocacy, and unwavering determination, Reese is creating a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
